Hi Fans, Do you remember when there was that little accident between Bears Michael Brown and Bullets Nigle Llyold, well the outcome is Nigel Llolyd has been given an 8-point disciplinary penalty for the flying elbow.
Richard Parker (GM) said "We are not happy with the decision. Our view is that the video evidence supplied by Brighton is inconclusive and certainly doesn?t show Nigel doing anything that you wouldn?t see in a normal game. Nigel went after a loose ball, boxed out and the contact made was of a purely accidental nature, with no intent whatsoever."
"Nigel has been in the league since 1984 and is a highly regarded and respected eight-time All Star player with an exemplary disciplinary record. I think that the disciplinary officer should have shown him more respect."
Parker continued, "Basketball, at this level, is a tough, physical game and confrontations are going to take place with contact being inevitable. Whatever did go on, it is clear that this was only a minor incident and if the disciplinary officer awards this level of punishment across the board for this kind of incident, it will result in teams running out of players to suit up before too long."
Well if you found that interesting then good for you. I just wish that there had been a better result as for everyone that was there at the Triangle (Burgess Hill) that week, you would?ve seen that Nigel Llyold dodn?t do anything he didn?t mean to do. If you where not at that game you missed one of the Bears best games this year.
BEARS 77 - 89 Manchester GIANTS
The Manchester Giants where playing there usual great game with the help of their skillful players Tony DORSEY (getting a game-high 27 points), Hairston (21) and Conlan (17).
The Giants led this game from start to finish leading 45-33 at the half. The Giants didn?t stop there as they went on to dominate the last quarter going on a 11-3 run.
Bears Top scorer was Lormont SHARP netting 19 and CLAXTON finished 2nd for the Bears scorers getting 15 points.
Today?s game was the Giants 18th win of the season only losing 2 games, this makes them top of the North and overall top of the League.
I was rather disappointed though to see JT (Gaines) not finishing very well, I think this was because his teammates where giving him the ball as much as I think they could of. If the Bears had performed as well as they did against the Towers I think they could?ve won this game.
BEARS 81 - 76 Haribo London TOWERS
This game had Towers written all over it before the game even started but the Bears managed to keep up the charge to not finish bottom of the southern conference by winning their second game of the week.
When I arrived at the centre I was expecting a very small, quiet crowd, how wrong was I?
The game tipped off with Claxton on a high hitting a few great jumpers and the odd DUNK! The Bears were getting a little lead with JT (Jon Gaines) netting a great buzzer-beater at the end of the 1st Quarter.
At the start of the second quarter the Towers still didn't look much like the Towers but still managed to tie the game on a few occasions. The Bears Clawed! their way back into the game with Claxton getting 2 consecutive rejections and Michael Brown hitting a few great under-pressure shots.
The last 2mins of the game arrived and the game was still pretty even, The Bears were still SHARP and the Towers were still erm, Towers.
The game went to the Bears after Jan Trojanowski hit a great jumper to put the Bears up and in control, after this the Towers had to just foul and hope the free-throws would miss. Jon Gaines ended up at the line for 2 with just a few seconds to go, Bears up by 3. Gaines nailed both shots to put them ahead by 5. The game ended this way with a hopeless hook shot from Towers star Danny Lewis.
My game man of the match was Towers Danny Lewis who was the only person who really keep the Towers in the game.
Bears are still bottom of the South Conference trailing to the London Leopards by 4 points, but the Leopards have played 2 more games over the Bears.
If you have seen the Towers advert on the T.v you will probebly be wondering if they don't get their HARIBO!
